Q ZY studio, a reused vineyard barn, is a new personal design office located in San Francisco. The lighting concept of this building is to create a forward & organized design space: combing daylight and different electrical lighting techniques to generate unique and clean perception. The custom ceiling panels with LED strips inserted in middle serve as main ceiling part in reception & waiting area. Ceiling panels with irregular length work with LED strips to provide indirect lighting and serve as a whole to provide illuminated "hanging-flag" perception. A large side window invites sufficient daylight during day time to save electrical energy and provide warmth in winter. Sunlight working with custom ceiling panels casts scattered shadow on floor, by which increase stimulation and clients' satisfaction. A window shade is applied for thermo concern. Upward wash light is used at bottom of reception desk to highlight marble texture. Forward & organized lighting is further incorporated into crack ceiling on second floor. LED edge lights inserted in crack ceiling panels to create forward and unique feeling. Crack ceiling panels are set at same ceiling height and color so that a sense of organization is improved. LED edge lights are dimmable to save energy during daytime. LED edge lights are also applied on back wall to accent triangle shapes. Three large side windows with shades are added to invite daylight for further stimulation.

FORWARD & ORGANIZED

Daylight is provided by placing a large side window to save electrical energy during daytime. Window shade placed on top for thermo concern. LED strips inserted in the middle of vertical ceiling panels to generate indirect light. The whole custom ceiling interests people by mimicking "illuminated hanging flag" perception. A led strip serving as upward wash light is inserted at bottom of reception desk to highlight marble texture.

Three large side window placed in break & resource area invite sufficient daylight during daytime, in which frequent change of sunlight during different daytime increase work stimulation and satisfaction for designer. Dimmable LED edge lights work with crack ceiling panels to generate ambient light and further incorporate into lighting concept: forward & organized. Recessed downlight placed under both wall and bottom cabinets to serve as accent light and illuminate working area on counter top.
